This summer, mark Bucharest on your map of places to visit, like so many artists from all over the world have already done! The capital of Romania has so much to offer and when you combine that with a lot of special events you’ll have an unforgettable experience. Take advantage of the many concerts all summer long and enjoy Bucharest at the same time. Here’s a list of the hottest events of the season for you to choose from.
The musical seasons kicks off in May with a great variety of genres. On 12 May dance with Enrique Iglesias at his Sex and Love concert taking place at Romexpo event centre. It will be a night full of energy on latino pop rhythms. Alternatively, you can spend the evening in the company of jazz music at Sala Radio with Anouar Brahem Quartet, a group famous for combining jazz with Arab folk music.
Jazz is very popular this May with two more jazz groups taking to stage. Erik Truffaz Quartet is coming to the National Theater of Bucharest on 16 May.
At the end of the month, on 29 May, you’ll be finding yourself singing along to hits of the recent years reinterpreted in jazz and swing rhythms by Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox.
Violinist Ara Malikian brings an eccentric touch to our list. On 26 May you can see him at Sala Radio along famous musicians playing his own compositions and reinterpretations of famous works.
In June, prepare for stadium-size events! Piața Constituției will be filled with pop rock beats courtesy of Maroon 5 right on 5 June. The weekend of 11&12 June will be marked by classical music as André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra return to Bucharest for two concerts in front of the Palace of Parliament, in Piața Constituției.
Two legendary rock bands will also be here during summer. Queen and Adam Lambert will rock Bucharest on 21 June in Piața Constituției and The Scorpions will play their most famous songs at Romexpo event center in mid-July.
Long-awaited, Rihanna is finally coming to Bucharest this summer. Her “The Event” Tour makes a stop in Piața Constituției on 14 August, so circle the date on the calendar!
Taking place every two years, the main event for classical music aficionados is without doubt the George Enescu Festival. Tickets sell out quickly, so if you want to enjoy the festival this September make sure you plan ahead!
